The Portly Pug

Our Story
What happens when a potter marries a dog trainer and they adopt a pug? The Portly Pug is born!
This husband/wife team started on their professional journey in 2003. Josh graduated from Columbus College of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics, and Charmagne received her Dog Training Certificate from Animal Behavior College. In 2007, Charmagne and Josh were married, and 3 years later, they adopted a rescue pug named “Kyusu.” She was very portly because she had spent the first 5 years of her life locked in a cage as a puppy mill breeder mom. She was the inspiration that led to the new joint business venture combining pottery and dog training; thus “The Portly Pug” was born.
We make various handmade functional and artistic pieces for humans and animals. These make wonderful gifts for your friends (2-legged or
